Local Events and Home Tips — Issue 01

Welcome!

Hi, I’m Olga. Welcome to the first issue of Local Events and Home Tips. Each month I will share practical guidance for your home along with a few things happening around Northern Virginia. My goal is to keep it simple, useful, and caring so you look forward to opening it.

Home Tip: Getting Ready for Fall

A little seasonal upkeep now will save time and money later. Here are three quick things to do before the weather turns:

  • Clear gutters and downspouts before leaves pile up

  • Seal gaps around windows and doors to keep your home warm and efficient

  • Plant spring bulbs now so your garden greets you first thing after winter

As the weather cools, insects and rodents start looking for warmth indoors. A quick check now can prevent issues later:

  • Store firewood away from the house

  • Keep food in sealed containers

  • Check for small cracks in the foundation and seal them
